Methodology

How Tithi calculates panchang data including tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, sunrise, Rahu Kaal, Abhijit Muhurat, and festival observance dates.

Location-Based Panchang

Tithi calculates panchang using date, coordinates, timezone, sunrise, and sunset. This is why two cities may show different panchang values on the same Gregorian date.

Daily Elements

The app calculates the five core panchang limbs: tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, and vaara. It also calculates sunrise, sunset, Rahu Kaal, Abhijit Muhurat, and choghadiya periods.

Festival Rules

Festival dates are selected using observance rules such as sunrise, midday, sunset, and midnight presence of the relevant tithi. This helps account for festivals where the correct day depends on more than the tithi visible at sunrise.

Use Local Timings

For rituals, vrat observances, and muhurat decisions, use the exact city page or the app instead of relying only on a general date article.
